It might be that if you were to join a special health camp - for 2 weeks vacation period - the peer pressure might help. Eg if you paid say $2000 for a health camp - and wanted to get the best out of it you would follow their timetable for the 2 weeks... eg 6 am juice, 7 am yoga,, 8 am breakfast, 9 am exercise... etc (this is just an example).
You should ideally not sleep less than 5 hours for good health. If you cannot sleep less than 8 hours then you should try and sleep at 9pm.
However, two important questions -
1) why do you want to start waking up at 6 am?? Is this just because others do - or is this because you want to? The answer to this question might itself be a motivation.
2) I have mentioned elsewhere - there are no definite 'musts'. Some people are at their best by being a 'night bird' and 'late' rather than 'early' riser. If you serve your purpose in life better by being a late riser - I wouldn't want to change that just because other people rise early. Yes it is a good habit and offers a valuable practical time for exercise, reflection etc but ultimately how you live your life most happily will depend on what brings out your best side.
Yes, a point to note though that usually things that make us feel out of our comfort zone - make us better!! ( be it public speaking, waking early, running/exercising daily, speaking to strangers, singing!!)
My experience with the mind and body is best explained by observing soldiers. They can wake up at 4 am and perform the most rigorous physical challenges throughout the day and yet go to sleep late, all thewhile being the most alert. How they do it is via sheer discipline. You can discipline your mind and body if you want to or if you have to. If there was no other way - you probably would wake up early. If you were - say a mother of a new born baby - your maternal instinct would keep you awake 18 hours of the day - wake up with your baby and sleep/rest when the baby is resting - most of the mothers - like soldiers are great at changing their sleep cycle at the toss of a coin for their kids. (something most men like me are jealous of!!)
So I do not agree that anything will affect your wake up time severely - I think it is just the motivation - when you find the right motivation to do things you will be fine.
For eg if you were to go to a favourite vacation place of your choice but the only flights were at 6 am, or if you were to date your favourite actor and their only available time was 6 am - would you let this one off night/day wake up effect to come in between your dream coming true?? Could you do this everyday?!
