Silence and solitude have been called “the mother of all the disciplines” by many mystics of different paths.
This too— The poetry that loves us most lay inexpressible in our hearts. Try though we might, our efforts to write or speak it are only pointers.
We know this is true because the poetry that we love is most often esoteric, its truth hidden in the words. Even the most simple truth is often couched in mysterious expression.
From Rumi to even Robert Frost the words belie a depth beyond themselves.
“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing there is a field. I'll meet you there. When the soul lies down in that grass the world is too full to talk about.” ~Rumi~
“Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.” ~Robert Frost~
Perhaps in these ways poetry within is the presence of Divine LOVE (God) in the hearts of humanity? Thus, poetry does indeed love us.
