Trees are very special, I agree. I want to speak for the trees that don’t seem to be seen. The one’s that are not being counted and therefore, are not being appreciated by those people keeping the tree count.

Let me explain. I live on the big open prairies, designed for sustaining life as well but with fewer trees. When I travel by airplane I am amazed to look out the window and see all of the trees that live in the cities. We hear people telling us to go plant trees but people have clearly done this and continue to do so. Often when flying over a city all I can see are the trees before I can even see the buildings.

My concern is for these trees. I’m concerned that they are not being counted and thereby not being appreciated because they look differently as a group than the ancient forests did. As much as we need to miss the trees that are missing, we also need to recognize and celebrate the trees that are here. And since we get more of what we focus on, let’s celebrate all of the existing trees 😊
