Very well stated. Taking negative emotion out of conversations and encounters leads to better communication all around. You will actually listen and not be second-guessing or forming a rebuttal before they're even done talking. Even if a common interest is difficult to find, practice being respectful of the person and relegate the message to the category of "in one ear and out the other".
