This summer a friend of mine planted the same squash plants she has always planted and waited for the usual deluge. The squash never came. Literally no squash. She investigated, asked the experts, and was told the probable reason was there weren't enough bees to pollinate the plants. Shocking!! I just never thought something like that would happen in our own back yards. Not sure why I'm in such denial about the state of our planet. When I read this article I laugh and I cry. I take it so much for granted that mother nature will just bring the squash every year.
