An incredibly touching story! Wouldn't it be nice if we could all have the type of compassionate care Paul received. For the most part in my experience that is not the case. Faced with similar situations most patients are rushed through testing without explanation and treatment without options for conditions about which they are not informed by a system that doesn't account for the feelings or opinions of the patient. Maybe Paul got better treatment as a professional courtesy but for the average patient it isn't the norm.
