Mark,
My comment is not a "misinformed statement". I have lived in Santa Fe for 20 years and am well aware of the problems animals face in Santa Fe, Espanola and other areas in our state. It would be most helpful in New Mexico to establish a large, no kill shelter such as "Best Friends Animal Society" in Kanab and Salt Lake City, Utah.
Natalie Owens with "Heart and Soul" is also a shining example in Santa Fe of animal rescue. She maintains her animal sanctuary through dedication, hard work, education and donations. Programs that educate our young people and adults to the needs of animals are absolutely necessary. This definitely requires funding. My comment was basically to state that a large donation in the amount you are requesting for your museum, would be far more effective to build
a large, compassionate, no kill shelter that actually benefits animals directly.
