What news sources would you recommend, Stu?
I love PBS, esp. PBS NewsHour. Not only is the format vastly different (nobody screams, argues, no 2-second sound bites, purely to entice, not based on the current format of "all the news we have good video for!). but they cover stories in depth, and from multiple angles, with input from foreign country sources.
They also feature a lot of group discussions, with participants from all sides of an argument. Their Friday night discussion, usually between Mark Shields and David Brooks, moderated by Judy Woodriff, who asks questions that require thought and depth to answer, are fabulous.
I can see why it might not appeal to Trump fans, because, while Brooks argues the Conservative side, he is a genuine, old-style Conservative, who wonders, along with many, what has happened to his party's truly Conservative beliefs.
Frankly, I'd love watching PBS if for nothing else than the adult nature of the discourse. All guests, even those who seem to thrive on inflaming the audience, are treated with dignity and respect, so that their theatrics begin to look downright silly and childish.
It doesn't surprise me that it is not as popular as some shows or networks. It must seem staid and boring to those who seem to need all that insanity and shouting to make a point.
I dearly miss Gwen Ifil, too, and mourn her passing so young.
