I hiked in the Hoh rainforest when I was stationed in Washington in the mid1970's. There was a moment when, lying on my back in a grove of trees and looking up at the sky. Save for the light movement of wind through the trees, it was the quietest place I've ever been. Some 40 years later, that memory haunts me. What I wouldn't give to be back there again.
