I do not think its trusting the stranger in Uber case. Riders are trusting Uber to track and log the ride (risk control) So this is trusting technology and corporations creating the dependency and control that markets dig. The down sides get little mainstream media attention while the ads pushing want buttons and false reals get that mainstream attention . The looping is serious. Companies that are tossing off responsibilities- in Uber case its insurance, car maintenance and the like, while the company can and is saturating the market in some areas,to gain more bottom line attention. This won't mess Uber up too much- at least short term. But driver trust in company? So its about the lens of perception once again. Building trust in communities is another thing entirely and would benefit more people and allow new ways, means, stories to develop-if it was encouraged, supported and seen as a way to nurture the better sides of "our human natures."."Trust is the glue of life...It's the foundational principle that holds all relationships. --Stephen Covey"
