Funnily enough I would never have thought of awe as "binding us to collectives." I often notice awe as one of the main differences between HSP and non-HSP brains--typically on a walk where I want to stand back and *look* at some awesome sight, and the non-HSP wants to rush on and chatter on as if s/he didn't see it. (I try to avoid walking with non-HSPs.)
