A valuable reminder. I know the "grass is greener" & "Keep up with the Joneses" battle it out in my head. I don't really care about the latter, but the ubiquitous messages from Hollywood, Social Media, and advertising drip into our heads in a steady stream - near constant stream. As a parent, I do remind my kids that advertising is pretty evil. I worked in it for years, so I know the tricks. It's really us v them when it comes to those messages. There is no honor among thieves. Thank you for the kind words. I'm still sorting things out. The next 5-10 years will make or break me, it seems.

Don't we all just love when the "Don't go away, shaaare this, or subscribe or buy or whatever," pops up while we're scrolling. Bad web design killed this article for me. I hope lots of other people are able to read it...I wasn't.
Web designers should remember that it's hard enough to read a screen without the site allowing corny ("exciting") things to happen to the text. Text should move when the reader clicks and not at any other time, ever.
