My friend was stationed in Gabon for two years with the Peace Corps, so we learned early on about the nation's efforts at creating a vast network of national parks that would protect its natural resources, increase ecotourism revenue and create a legacy of environmental conservation that would put the small African country on the map. Those of us who value nature and wildlife need to get behind Gabon's efforts and support it with our words and our dollars, so that other African nations will see the value in protecting rather than poaching, in conserving rather than exploiting. Kudos to the non-profits already doing such valuable work to educate the local communities on the long-term value of sustainability. We at Green Global Travel will lend our voice to Gabon's efforts.
