Ignaz Semmelweis, not Joseph Lister, discovered the importance of handwashing between autopsies and the maternity ward, and campaigned to get doctors to wash their hands. He was ridiculed and died unsung.

You kinda proved how wrong you are, Ignaz died without changing anything, so why would he be credited with saving lives? Without Joseph Lister he wouldve been even more ¨unsung¨ which he deserves honestly for being such a useless figure that couldnt even tell people to wash their hands without falling over and dying like a little piss baby.
