When we end the false line between white and black we will find harmony based on love of each other. I was very surprised to learn the Bishop Tutu is black, but not surprised at all. I first learned of Bishop Tutu in 1960 at an Ohio Minister's Convention in Columbus. The occasion was a stage play of Alan Payton's, "Cry the Beloved Country." I learned then that Bishop Tutu had urged Alan Payton to complete and present his work at a critical time in history that could have cost Alan Payton imprisonment or even death. The fact that Bishop Tutu and his cultural changing influence is such a discovery is due to the practice of the faith in God and his fellow man that helped South Africa become an example that we do not need to become victims or prisoners of our prejudices. Bishop Tutu is a black child of God as well as a very wise Bishop. I am a white child of God and a pastor or Life Elder in the United Methodist Church. Our differences are overcome by our sameness of humanity and the purpose of our Creation. What a blessing and discovery if we could all share in the life and faith of this great Bishop Tutu, great because of his faith in God and his wisdom about the human condition.
