The inner quality one requires is contentment. Once that quality is innate then competition, jealousy, rat-race, consumption=happiness equation etc. vanish and instead co-operation, compassion, empathy blossom. "Do I need this?" is the only question one should ask before any purchase, however small it can be. What has happened that we have broken the subjective but moral partitions between need, wants, desires and greed and therefore greed has become a need. I am 77 years young and have survived with 3 pairs of clothes; 3 pairs of under-wears; 2 pairs of night-dress; not using hair-oil, shampoo, any cream, perfume, bathing soap etc. for more than 50 years. Friends and relatives used to say that I will get bald, will have skin diseases, people will laugh at my dressing and what not! Nothing of that kind has happened and I am the healthiest of the lot, let alone happiest. Love Bhupendra, Mumbai, India
