that was my immediate response - however, upon deeper reflection - realistically - if that had been Gitanjali's approach, she would not have been allowed into the Brothel her again, and Kat Khati would have never been born... i take my hat off to this wise, pragmatic, inspiring woman, who knows her environment so well she realises how to work from within, at least to begin with...

I do the same thing with getting to the gym 4x/week. I've even told myself all I have to do is walk in the building and then can leave, but getting there is the hard part. Once I'm there I do a good workout.
While I have specific days I usually go that are spaced out during the week, that "4 times" thing works for me because I'll go both days on the weekend if I have to. (I count Monday as day 1).
I find a spreadsheet works better for me, because I'm always at my laptop anyway, and then I can do averages, or graph my consistency, etc. I also note the time I spend while there, and how much time on the bike, treadmill, weight machines, or whatever.
I'm a numbers person, so just seeing the monthly/yearly totals and averages inspires me to keep at it, too. I've had this system going for a decade now, so can attest that it does work! But I agree that just putting an X on a calendar would give a similar feeling of accomplishment. But, as you say, pick manageable goals, and figure out how you will block them into your daily schedule, don't just hope you'll find time to do it.
Now... let me get my butt to the gym! LOL
