It is pretty common knowledge now with most of the population, just how important sleep is for all the many different health reasons you mentioned. Unfortunately you are leaving approximately close to 40% of the population with insomnia wondering if "there's one more thing" they can try to alleviate their insomnia. Talks like this one only serve to fuel the already existing anxiety in these patients, because now they are not only going to have anxiety and the repercussions of poor sleep but now they can worry about all the probable health issues they will get diagnosed with due to insomnia. What the medical community does not understand is how to help people with chronic insomnia in a healthy way without sleeping pills or benzodiazepines. If you are a researcher and scientist wanting to help people with insomnia then put your energy where it can make a difference. Speaking for myself, I have tried everything from CBTI, childhood trauma therapy, mindfulness meditation, acupuncture, every supplement known to man for insomnia, Feldenkrais, EFT, Brainspotting, EMDR, hypnosis, SE work, sleeping pills but got off of them after a year because of the side effects............so if you have any other suggestions, I would love to hear about them.
