I began a mindfulness practice to help me cope with what I found to be the overwhelming stress of teaching school I just didn't have the emotional skills for the job. I found, over and over again, that when I sat with anger and fear and let the story line run itself out, it would just drop away and I'd wonder what I had upset me so.
Before my practice I could only project, suppress, or act out my anger and fear. Not surprisingly, I'd get the same back. I find kindness at the core of my being and I find that I speak to the kind spot in others. There is no downside to kindness. Everyone wins.
