I was most fortunate 20 years ago when my wife enlightened me with the knowledge of not making a detailed itinerary when traveling. Just planning an entry and exit point, with respective dates, and then making your way on a day to day basis between the two geographic and time points. This when have done predominantly ever since, and when we have not we always end up saying "we should have", as the best vacations and experiences have always been impromptu.
