What a great read! I am so inspired and encouraged to read your responses in this article. This article further catalyzes a space for reflection and discussion among other philanthropic leaders. Having worked at the grassroots in India and US, I feel that the need to work better is even more crucial than doing more. More done in the same way may not produce any better results.
It is ironical that most of the donors talk about down up approach, voices from the ground, and supporting community initiatives etc but most fall short when it comes to creating a space where ground up input is empowered, facilitated, and integrated into programs or/and policies of the donors.
The effective engagement of ground up approach at all levels starting with the concept and strategy of any social investment initiative is crucial and has potential for producing phenomenal outcomes even with the available financial resources. Starting to do better with what we are already doing would be a great start!
