No, it's f(x), if you don't run out of scope you can't run out of empathy. Whatever we resist will persist, but not forever. Some religions intend to drive the fear of hell into us by presenting the theory that if we had to go into a fire it would burn eternally. The reality is, it would become normal about as fast as being in a too hot shower would. To take it literally the nerve endings would die. So if you sit on the same train everyday and walk through the same corridor to the same job ...... You'll run out of scope not empathy.
