No offense, but that statement was offensive. No one has the right to judge the worth of another person's pet. You don't know what that person might have gone through in their life and what their animal means to them.
Jennifer. I think you missed the point of M's statement....it was the happiness the two women brought to the young girl, not the cost.
If you wouldn't move Heaven and Earth for your pet, then you don't deserve one.
I truly hope that you do NOT have any pets. And if you do......I pray for them.
Jennifer, really clueless statement. A few years back I had to take a kitten to the Vet ER. While I waited for his blood results a couple brought in a dog that had been hit by a car. I eavesdropped to how the dog was their neighbor's and they found it on the road. The neighbor was a widow, homebound, and undergoing chemo. This dog was her reason to keep going and made her life bearable. The Clinic wanted the 125.00 visit fee and $75.00 for xrays. Neither the caring neighbors nor the owner could afford this. So they were going to put the dog to sleep. (Yeah I was waiting for one of the vets to step in)...so I told the Vet I would pay. Come to find out the dog had a dislocated hip. Rest and limited activity and she would recover in about 4-6 weeks. This pet was more than an "animal" to this woman. She was the woman's companion and her reason to keep fighting cancer. You may poo poo the value people put on their pets. But, don't judge lest you be judged.
No offense but maybe you need to realize that some peoples pets are just like family to them.
Jennifer, ignore the attacks people are making on you. It's ridiculous how unbalanced some people get about pets.
I don't have children. I never could have them successfully. My husband and I have 2 cats and yeah, they have a price above rubies, in our eyes. We WOULD move heaven and earth for the both of them. Do not decide their worth for me. You do not have that right.
I disagree! There are some people who may not be worth the money for surgery, but all animals are.
You are (respectfully) so wrong Jennifer. You are so wrong. You have no idea how wrong you are.
I beg to disagree. My own dog, Pandora, was rescued from the pound. She was hit by a car three weeks after we got her because she and our other dog got out of the yard.
She had a broken jaw that would need to be fixed. My parents took her up to A&M. The surgery cost 5000 dollars.
That was back in 2009. 4 years later, Pan is an incredibly active, incredibly happy pup whom you would never guess had surgery. She keeps my depression at bay (I live alone), sleeps with me at night, and does her damnest to bring a smile to my face.
I'd say she was worth that money and more.
then when you get sick we will put u down as well cuase your not worth the $$ either with comments like that and yes it is a dam shame you dont have a heart all liveing things deserve a chance even scum like u
i paid 3000grand for my dog, theres nothing i wont do or spend to keep him healthy, happy and safe. The way i see it people spend 1000s of dollars each year on there kids to sit on there asses and play video games. No offence but those people need to put there money to better use.
You're right. You sure aren't.
You can judge a person's character by how they treat their animals. Thank gawd I'm not related to you, you would probably have me put down if I cost too much. There are many who would do anything for the life of their pets, it's sad that you put a dollar value on everything. Enjoy your miserable life, you have no idea what unconditional love you are missing.
What if it were your Autistic child????????
You are insensitive to the needs of others. It's not about the cat it's about human decency. What those ladies did was help a person in need. When is the last time you have helped a stranger with money from your own pocket. The comment was not needed. That cat may be all that the woman has in life. You don't know what something is worth to another? Who are you to put a price on someone's pet? I pray you do not have a pet. You are not special enough to feel the unconditional love that a dog or cat brings to your life.
My boys (two Labs) mean the world to me. They have been there for me thru all of my extreme sickness and almost dying several times. They have been there with me thru 2 brain surgeries and a bilateral adrenalectomy when no one else was. They kept me alive (before i was diagnosed) because 20 years of extreme pain and sickness was too much for me to bare. i would not be here today if it were not for them. i could not leave them without a mother, because i know what that feels like - to be left and abandoned. They were rescues - God brought them to me. They had been left many times before i am sure, and as i said, i know what that feels like. i couldn't do to them what had been done to me. And so i fought for life, for diagnosis, and a cure because THEY were in my life. Had they not been, i know i would have committed suicide because of my severe illness and pain (Cushing's Disease and Acromegaly). They have not been very sick, but they have had their bouts here and there and i've donated plasma or done whatever i had to do to pay for their care when i was too sick to actually work, myself. i love them. They are my world and my life.
Oh dear Jennifer. I can't even word my reply to you I m so shocked by your sentiment.
You would pay any price if your child was affected. A life is a life. Period.
funny, I feel the same way about your kids.
YOU ARE A SPECIAL KIND OF EVIL,AREN'T YOU? IT IS OFFENSIVE!! TO AN ANIMAL LOVER, THEIR ANIMAL ARE LIKE THEIR KID...
I hope you take a moment to consider that some of us, who are unable to have children, for whatever reason, consider our pets as our children. (And many of the people who see their pets as children/family, do have kids, too).
100 percent agree Jennifer. Before a person spends an obscene amount on a pet, they should think about someone that is hungry or on the street and wonder what they would think about someone spending 3k for an animal. Sure its your money, burn it as you want too, but that is a horror when you think about all the need in the world and your blowing it on a dog or cat. I do not know why this erks me, because I wouldn't care if you went out and bought a 3k television if thats what you wanted to spend your money on. But just the thought of spending that much on non-human health care when there is so many humans that could use it, twitches my synapses wrong. Care for your pet, spend reasonable money $50-$200 maybe, if you can afford it. $500? err, no. 3k, that is obscene.
Who do you think you are to make judgments like that? There's many animals that are worth 3K and more....
