Beautiful and Inspiring Thank you! We all have the ability to share small kindness Every Day. The kindness I share is often through offering FREE HUGS to whomever needs/wants one as well as sharing stories that illustrate our interconnectedness as Human Beings.
Hugging the Homeless. I've shared this story before, but wish to share it again today. She was sprawled out on the sidewalk, her possessions in a shopping cart next to her. I had just finished Free Hugging in Union Square and decided to walk back home. I took out my Free Hugs sign, approaching her with a smile. "Would you like a FREE HUG?" She looked at me skeptically. "You'd hug Me?!" I stepped closer, "Yes, if you want one." Her skepticism melted into a smile. She opened her arms and I leaned down to hug her. She whispered, "Honey, thank you. I haven't been touched in nearly 20 years." What do you say to that? I hugged her tighter and when she was ready, we let go. I apologized to her that I had no money to share that day, being a Storyteller sometimes I'm short on cash. She smiled, took my hand and said, "That hug was worth More than any Money you could have given me. Thank you." I hugged her again and with my heart close to bursting walked home. Since then I've hugged countless homeless people, street performers, even my mailman. It's always a beautiful exchange. I encourage you to Hug someone today. Hug from my Heart to yours. Kristin
