"... But as I get older, I realize that at its core, this hallowed holiday is more about giving, not just with candy, but sharing and revering in these little moments with each other." yes at the core is very true, but as acted out in a nation centered in an extractive economic system...we have been shanghaied and forced off course. Non profits will never be able to fix all the damage of the machine "we" built as its only purpose is to extract and grow wealth. It is not designed to give back, to generate sustainable healthy activities that will nurture a healthy existence. We do not speak of this monster in the closet and yet is is responsible for so many ills. We know toxins, faux food, sugars, loss of relationships, trust are affecting us deeply. We need real change.
Nico did from the heart and this is a lovely story. My son had a brain tumor and is now an ER doc...miracles are, they are possibilities we have offset in pursuit of the dollars needed to feed that machine in that closet!
