Shawnee Real Bird, how fitting her beautiful name is to her flying at 10,000 feet--her way of replicating the mountain-top treks of her ancestors as they envisioned their future. I once read that ancestral Native Americans foresaw modern day air travel when they envisioned "cobwebs in the sky," seeing the contrails of jet flight in their dreams. I am saddened by the suffering of the Native cultures and bolstered by how Shawnee can find a meaningful path in her Montana lifestyle.
