Oh my heart, 1000 times yes to listening to one's intuition and one's heart.
Rachelle's story resonates deeply with my own journey. I've been blessed with some amazing doors opening not only when following intuition, also when being authentic about sharing the skills/gifts I've been given. Taking risks like selling my humble home to create/facilitate a volunteer literacy project in Belize for 7 years. Donating programs for 30K children was beyond my expectations. Then Storytelling Festivals and volunteer projects on Colombia, Ghana, Haiti. Kenya, Romania, Poland. A 7 year intention to bring deeper hmanity in the World Bank resulted in being hired as a Storytelling Consultant there in 2015. And I'm still there. A chance meeting at a healing arts festival in Alberta led to pursuing a Master's in Narrative Therapy & Community Work. And now I'm also a Narrative Therapy Practitioner in service to survivors of abuse ,(among other populations).
So many other examples I could share!♡
And I needed this reminder. For nearly a year I've been the primary caregiver for my mother who has a myriad of mental and physical health challenges. While this is sacred "work" I've fallen into a deep depression and lost my own path. I asked the universe for more work with children because that has been a bright light on my journey. A month ago I was asked to be a Teaching Artist with Touchstone Theatre, a company I (and our community) deeply respect. I get to utilize theatre arts to work with children and teens who are struggling. What a gift! I remind myself that while the monetary pay is lower than what my very simple lifestyle currently requires (health insurance & food!) the richness of living purpose is worth more!
Thank you again for this powerful reminder!♡
