This story of the sparrow reminds me of the story that is told in The Star Thrower by Loren C. Eiseley where a starfish is thrown back into the ocean amid so many others that also will die without being thrown back. When asked by a bystander why bother throwing one back when there are too many to throw and the answer is that to that one starfish, it will make a big difference. Both beautiful stories and wisdom.
