I've thought about eliminating social media as well but it's currently the only way I can connect with a number of folks. I'm also concerned about how will non-profits get the word out on petitions, voting, and so on?
One thing I do now is make sure to do something in the real world before sitting down at the computer. I find it puts me in a better frame of mind because I have fewer concerns niggling me then. I'm trying to get my husband to spend less time on the smart phone though -- at least he uses it a lot of the time for doing language lessons but... One of the reasons he uses it is because it uses less energy than his laptop or PC.
I don't have a TIkTok acct and maybe go to IG a handful of times per year, so mostly it's FB for me.
I'm considering pulling back from playing a find object game though -- so many ads to go through. I'm never tempted by anything but it does wear on you.
Thanks for the think piece!
