Thank you so much for this beautiful affirmation; your writing makes me feel less lonely, less alone. Compassion and mindfulness are prayers regardless of beliefs. I'm Jewish by birth and cultural background, and there is much that is worthy in the traditions. I also appreciate that some Christians and non-Christians understand that the historic Jesus was a Jew, a rabbi, a teacher with much in common with Buddhist philosophies. But... the rest, well, "An eye for an eye" does indeed leave everyone blind. And I never could understand why we designated a god with the worst of our human traits - jealously, vengeance, cruel punishments, the willingness to sacrifice one's children, etc. It seems life itself, and all its creatures including us humans, is precious and it's all we've got here and now, while we're here, along with the stars and the better thoughts and feelings of our hearts. The awareness of death is a good thing, and indeed, moment by moment we choose who we are here and now in response to our life, to love or hate, forgive or withhold. Again, thank you.
