Thank you Tererai for sharing your story, so energizing. My dream is partially realized: that of being of service as both a Storyteller listening and sharing stories of building bridges of understanding and breaking the pity/poverty view to one of acknowledging and honoring the layers of knowledge and wisdom of peoples. And as a Narrative Therapy Practitioner working alongside survivors of abuse and violence honoring their lived experiences (I am a survivor myself) and journeying together in conversations to see beyond the trauma to honoring their many skills knowledges and exploring their preferred life narratives. Tererai spoke to sharing/giving to others: One of the programs I developed is melding Narrative Therapy with the metaphors and physical process of the Japanese art of Kintsugi, mending the broken pieces with glue and gold (I use embossing powder). This art therapy assists women to put the pieces of their lives back together. I am incredibly grateful as this has been profoundly healing in my own life. Thank you Tami and Tererai because now I have Tererai's book to give me the next push to share this work with more people. forever grateful!
