Oh how I loved this! Here it is almost a year later and as I was cleaning out my emails, I found this. One thing that caught my eye was, "I decided to pursue it because something about this felt very real to me, authentic and deeply personal." I absolutely love the beauty of your work. The spoon of the woman and embryo is gorgeous! I too have started to embrace on something I have wanted to learn for so many years. I grew up with a mother that could "make anything" with a sewing machine. I was compared to my sister (10 months older) who could pick up on things and do them quickly. I was one of those kids who definitely did NOT get it the first time. I have always loved to sew, to play with material, to doodle and to just play. I started to learn to quilt last year and find this very creative. I currently am making "fanny packs" out of recycled blue jeans - why? Because it is a way to reuse what others just throw away. Most of the things I make, I give away. I love the old way of using a 1950 Singer sewing machine and creative things out of machine embroidery. It is fun - to see someone open a "just because" gift that was made especially for them! Taking little ones creative drawings off of a refrigerator and creating a "zip purse" for the mom from these drawings is heart felt! I lost my job when the pandemic started and have decided it just might be time to see if I could retire. It took awhile to adjust to not having a paycheck deposited, but savings and other income meets my financial needs. The joy and freedom I feel in my sewing/art/creative room is like a peaceful meditation and time with a spiritual closeness. Thank you for sharing your experience. You are a very creative woman!
