This is very good. I've practiced breath awareness for over thirty years now, which has given me time to appreciate that meditation tends to be romanticized to the extent that it is under-practiced but oversold. I saw an article in Tricycle that described mindfulness as a folk religion for the upper middle classes which struck me as sadly accurate. I've heard too many people unironically proclaim themselves to be "spiritual but not religious" without the least awareness of the condescending narcissism on display to believe that it is the exit ramp from suffering that we'd like to think it is.
