I have so much gratitude for Maria Popova.
In my mind, she is the immeasurably intelligent, deeply caring Librarian, thoughtfully sharing her knowledge of all within the library, accompanied by wisdom that is for her, an innate virtue.
She is a reliable, trustworthy scout, guide, and wayfinder.
Thank you Maria for your kindness and insights, and thank you DailyGood for sharing this meaningful article from a gifted writer.
Thank you for these words. To call my relationship a long-distance one (which it is) feels trivial compared to the indescribable and profound healing my love and I offer one another. Indeed, with 2300 miles and years apart separating us, I am humbled by the words, "And love will simply have no choice but to go into battle with space and time and, furthermore, to win."
This article is having a profound effect on me, as I lost the love of my life, my bright light, after a 38-year marriage that I can only characterize as bliss. He was my guiding star. He slipped through the veil on January 8, 2023. In the throes of unimaginable grief, I find Popova's words a balm to my soul. He might be on the other side, obscured from my eyes right now, but he's not gone! In fact, I don't think he can be. Thank you, Maria.
