Weathering the Storm: How Horses Teach Us Community
It was going to be a particularly important day for a healing ceremony with horses. Participants would experience community for the first time in a long time due to the covid lockdown. “Many of those present were single people. They hadn’t had any human contact since the lockdown. No one to get a hug from. No one to hold their hand.” They connected again through meditation, and some began to interact with the horses. Yet, there was a separation. “It was a continuation of the lockdown that made us feel separate even as we were together.” Then the skies opened up to a blinding wind and rain as an intense summer storm suddenly blew in. The way the horses responded taught them a profound lesson on the power of community.
BE THE CHANGE
Remember a time you felt held. Perhaps it was simply someone showing they cared, the way a favorite furry friend looked at you, or maybe it was just a little unexpected hug. How can you pass that feeling on to someone else?
